On Saturday March 21, 2015, the whole Bigard family stood agog to witness the solemn matrimony between one of their lay workers, Cyriacus Onyiwara popularly called “Baanyi” and Ebere Chibuko. Mr. Cyriacus is a native of Uba-azi Amiri in Imo State while Mrs. Ebere is from Obinofiandiagu, Eziagu Local Government Area in Enugu State.
The wedding Mass took place in Bigard Main Chapel at about 11.00am with five priests, more than twenty deacons and five hundred Seminarians and lay workers in attendance. The Chief Celebrant, Very Rev. Dr. Ukoro Theophilus Igwe, Rector Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu at the beginning of the Mass, expressed his gratitude to God for the day a reality and urged all to pray for the new couple.
Rev. Fr. Cyprian Ezeakunne during the homily admonished the couple to love, care and show concern for each other. Above all he advised them to pray always. The apex of the celebration was the exchange of marital consent between Cyriacus and Ebere. Rev. Fr. Simon Areji, one of the Spiritual directors and Chaplain for the lay workers during the vote of thanks appreciated the contributions of the Rector towards the wedding. He also expressed his gratitude to all who had contributed immensely towards the success of the wedding.
The celebration continued with a reception in the Seminary Auditorium with the opening prayer by Rev. Fr. Cyprian Ezeakunne.
Other activities included the opening remarks by Rev. Fr. Anthony Attah, the Chairman’s opening Speech by Mr. Ubaka, introduction/cutting of the wedding cake, toasts to the bride and the groom, Feeding of the couple, presentation by the Band of Bigard (BOB), dance by the couple, presentation of gifts, vote of thanks by the groom’s father, the bride and chairman’s closing remark. The closing prayer was said by Rev. Fr. Simon Areji.
