Wednesday, the 25th of January, 2023, was indeed a happy and joyful day for the entire Bigard Seminary family as the Fr. Rector announced to the entire students and formators during the community Mass, the elevation of one of her spiritual directors, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Raphael Egwu to the rank of Papal Chamberlain (MONSIGNOR) by the Holy Father, Pope Francis. This is in recognition of his contributions towards the growth of the local and the universal Church.
The news was received with prayerful thanks to God Almighty and to his servants His Holiness Pope Francis I, the Papal Nuncio and the Bishop of Awgu diocese, Most Rev. John I. Okoye. To God be the Glory!!!
Very Rev. Msgr. Egwu hails from Inyi in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State and is currently a spiritual director at our Seminary.
We pray that the Triune God give him all the strength and joy he needs for this very important elevation in the Church.
