BIGARD MEMORIAL SEMINARY ENUGU CELEBRATES HER 26TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY
On 17th February 2026, the procession of the matriculants, the members of the academic staff and principal officers from the University of Ibadan began. In attendance from the University of Ibadan were: Prof. F. Offor (Director, Directorate of Affiliated institutions) Mr.G.O. Saliu (Registrar), Mrs. Stella O. Soola (Senior Deputy Registrar), Prof. O. Adegbindin (HOD Philosophy) and Mr. O.O. Ajani (Affiliation Officer). Rev. Fr. Patrick Malo said the opening prayers followed by the rendition of the anthems after which the Registrar, Mr. G.O. Saliu called on the Director of Affiliated institutions, representing the Vice Chancellor to declare the ceremony open. After this came the Rector’s address.
The Rector in his address thanked the University of Ibadan for the co-operation so far and highlighted the improvements in the seminary especially the expansion of the Library and a new hostel. In his address, the Vice Chancellor noted that the affiliation began on the 27th April 1998. He expressed his gratitude and reaffirmed the bilateral relationship. He called on the urgent need to form patriotic minds to solve our societal problems in Nigeria. He reminded the matriculants that this was just the beginning of their journey not the assurance of their graduation.
Thereafter, the matriculation oath was administered on the 103 matriculants by the Registrar of the University of Ibadan, Mr. G.O. Saliu. This was followed by a saxophone interlude by Mr. Paschal Ugwu. After the musical interlude, the Registrar of the Seminary, Rev. Fr. Prof. Aloysius Obiwulu called on the Registrar of the University of Ibadan to invite the Vice Chancellor's representative to close the ceremony. The anthems were rendered in reverse order and the closing prayer was said by Rev. Fr Christian Agala.
