On Sunday, January 19, 2025, the Bigard Memorial Seminary family joined the 2024/2025 Deacon Class in celebrating their Epiphany a solemn occasion marking their official manifestation as deacons in the service of the Church.

The celebration began with a Holy Mass of Thanksgiving, with the Rector, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Albert Ikpenwa, as the Chief Celebrant. The homily was delivered by Rev. Fr. Dr. Damian Udechukwu, who first expressed gratitude to God for the gift of vocation to the newly ordained deacons. He then reflected on the meaning of Epiphany, emphasizing that just as Christ was revealed to the world, the Epiphany of the Deacon Class signifies the manifestation of their new diaconal ministry after 17 years of formation. He reminded them that this milestone is not a cause for pride but a call to humble service in the Church, recognizing that their new status is an unmerited gift from God.

At the end of the Mass, Igbaji Emmanuel, on behalf of the Deacon Class, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the seminary formators for their guidance throughout their journey to the priesthood. He also appreciated the support and fraternity of fellow seminarians. After the final blessing, the Deacon class and Formators proceeded outside for group photographs in front of the chapel.

The evening session featured a solemn procession and vespers, which culminated in a recession to the sacristy. The class president, Rev. Nnadi Cyriacus, who led the vespers and benediction, once again thanked God for His grace upon the Deacon Class. He also appreciated the seminary formators and students for their unflinching support. The celebration concluded with the singing of the seminary anthem, followed by a dismissal to the refectory for supper.
The 2024/2025 Deacon Class Epiphany was a profound moment of gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to humble service in the vineyard of the Lord.
