Jeanne Bigard was a French lady, the daughter of Stephenie Bigard in whose memory the seminary was named. Jeanne together with her mother, were foundresses of the Opus Sancti Petri Apostoli; the society that supplied the fund for the building of Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu.
The monumental statue was donated by the 2016 Theology Graduands of Bigard on the occasion of the 46th Convocation ceremony of our Seminary, dated March 20, 2017. This edifice was unveiled and commissioned by the Convocating Prelate, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, and the Guest of Honour of the day, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the Deputy Senate President of the 8th National Assembly of Nigeria.
